I was able to take them to one of my favorite places in the city, Zilker Botanical Gardens.
This place is awesome and apparently this is a great time of year for it. With three little ones tagging along, we went pretty early in the day. 100 degree and higher weather is not so awesome.
I think I had more fun than the kids...
At one point in our wandering, we noticed some maintenance workers coming out of one of these old historic buildings. Husband, notices in his delinquent nature, that they have left a door unlocked and decides to investigate.
I roll my eyes at him and keep walking, wanting nothing to do with his shenanigans, until I hear him calling for me to come look.
I inform him that I will not be going in to any buildings and neither should he and he just keeps waving me over, so finally curious, I go see what the fuss is about.
He opens the door a little wider, and I see this:
What is that? Hmmm, lets take a closer look.
A little blurry, but there's no damn way I was getting any closer. I guess security was not so lax as I would have suspected, what with people leaving doors unlocked, because that is a giant mass of attack Daddy Long Legs!
Oh god!
Creepiest thing ever!!!
The rest of the day was fun and we were not eaten by a hoard of single-body-segmented, eight-legged nightmares.
My friend has gone home now, and I still have a few days left of vacation to try and accomplish things. Or I can sit around and completely goof off and draw silly sketches.
But in case any one was interested, here's a fun Kim fact! I have two dogs, and let me introduce you to one of them.
This is Harley Quinn. She is eight years old and is a very dignified lady. She takes her tennis balls very seriously and is possibly the world's most perfect dog. She handles baby attacks and my other young, but giant, dog with grace and poise. Also included in the photograph is a crappy, super fast sketch and my knees.
Have a great day!
